Carme Aliaga Wall Art

Carme Aliaga (Born in 1971) was born in Terrassa, Spain. Carme loved art from and early age. Since her early childhood, she knew she would be a painter. She graduated with a Masters of Fine Arts degree from the University of Barcelona in 1994. During her first years as a professional artist, she painted while at the same time she was a high school teacher. However, in the year 2000 she decided to fully commit herself to painting. Her first works were strongly influenced by ancient Mediterranean civilizations. The common thread behind her pictorial works is the mystery of all that surrounds us and of the passing of time on matter. Her paintings show the hand of humans without their presence, overlapping colors and layers as on a street wall which has suffered weather’s harshness.

The main themes, such as airplanes and ships, always appear damaged by the passing of time. The influence of ancient Mediterranean civilizations can still be seen in her contemporary works which she bases on travel posters of the ‘20s, with their sense of travel and typographies seen as the channel for connecting cultures. In the last few years Carme has regularly exhibited her paintings in Paris, Madrid, and Barcelona, as well as in national and international Art Fairs in Latin America and Europe. Her pieces of art can currently be found in numerous private and public collections. Carme has also tried her hands on lithography, engravings, and book illustrations. She’s had group shows at Galeria Espai G d'Art, Terrassa and at Galería Carme Espinet, Barcelona several times.
