Diane Stimson was born and raised in the suburbs of NYC. Her life as an artist really did not begin until after college. She attended the University of New Hampshire from where she obtained a B.A. in art & communications. After graduation, she still really had no idea what to do with her life, all she knew was that she loved art, so she worked at finding a job in a creative atmosphere. Diane landed a job in advertizing and it was until then that she decided on pursuing an actual career as a designer. To confirm that decision she started studying at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. For the t two decades that followed, she paid her dues working her way through the corporate world as Art Director, Creative Director, and Graphic Designer and Consultant for the publishing, advertising, licensing, home décor, and stationery industries.
Diane recently got a chance to break off from that frenetic pace and live out a lifelong dream to start Steppin' Out Design, her own company. Today, her work can be found in such retail chains throughout the world as Bath & Beyond, Target, Home Goods, Bed, and TJ Maxx, among others. A partial list of her clients includes: Eleanor Fine Design, BIC Corporation, Zone, Gallery Direct-UK, Schawk-Chicago, and Conlon. Diane resided in Chicago for a number of years but recently returned to New York where she continues with her work and is diligently committed to life as a freelance designer and artist for all areas of decorative art.
