Megan Meagher desired an art career as early as her teens. This is because she got interested in art since her childhood. She enrolled in James Madison University where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Art degree in painting and drawing. While at the university, Megan explored photography and screen-printing. Several master painters inspire her work. So she’s studied Art History extensively. Her greatest influences are Phillip Pearlstein, Mary Cassat, and Chuck Close. She continues to add clarity and elegance to contemporary, classic design, and further pursues her own art. She has been working at Old World Prints since 2003. Megan has several pieces of art to her name but the most famous include Frog with Plaid (PP) I, Designer Chair I, Frog with Plaid (PP) IV, Designer Chair VII, and Turtle with Plaid (PP) IV. The art are available as framed prints, posters, and art prints.
Her preferred subjects include Animals, Baby's Room, Home& Interior, Turtles & Tortoises, Children's Animal Art, Cartoon, Kids Rooms, Floral & Botanical, Boy’s Room, Gates, Flowers, among others. She prefers to use pastel colors, yellow ochre, yellow and white. Megan relies on intuition and direct observation in her boldly colored paintings of landscapes and figures. Using visceral paint, gestural marks, and geometric forms, her paintings reflect the influences of the leading artists of her time. Her work offers viewers a powerful experience generated by her use of deeply expressive and experimental color and by the paint itself. Megan’s compositions are free of any constraints imposed by her subject matter.
