Laura Mitchell hails from New Jersey. She is now beginning a career in Fine Arts and feels very fortunate to be an apprentice with the Jahn Studios. Before moving to Perth, life has followed a trail from Washington DC to NYC to SF and Madrid. She has had a career in music, having received a B.A. in English/Music and an M.F.A. in Design while she was living in the United States. Currently Laura works and lives in Fremantle, WA. She currently focuses on painting, although she has also exhibited multi-media works and sculpture. Her exhibition experience bridges the U.S. and WA, Melbourne, including academic and commercial galleries. In addition to being a professional musician, Laura has taught design and fine art in various institutions and venues. She currently juggles her creative career with raising a young family.
She has been to many art shows and has received many awards including Annual Juried Competition, Jahn Studios (Student Show), 1st Place, Salmagundi Club, (Student Show), Connecticut Academy of Fine Art Exhibition, and Art Guild, Manhasset, NY. Laura has worked with Reed Reference Publishing Company New Providence, NJ, and has been a senior graphic designer at The TMP Group, New York, NY and at Times Mirror Magazines, Inc. New York, NY. Her work is found many collections, museums and galleries across the US and beyond. Her art has also found its way into many people’s homes and into many institutions; both private and public. She is currently living with her family in New Jersey.
