Description:
This is an early example of what later became a charactistic technique of Cezanne's. Constructive brushstrokes define the shapes of forms, while strong colors of equal intensity dominate throughout the painting, ignoring the rule of aerial perspective which requires paler colors for objects in the distance. To the upward movement of the trees and the horizontal line of the bridge are added the arches of the bridge, the slanting roof of the house, and the diaganals of the branches.
